In the fall of 1988, actor Paul Newman's dream of opening a camp for children with serious medical conditions became a reality. The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps is a not for profit umbrella organization set up to serve existing Hole in the Wall Camps as well as camps in formation.
Our mission is to extend the magical Hole in the Wall Camps experience to as many children with serious illnesses and life-threatening conditions as possible. The whole idea behind the Hole in the Wall Camps is for children who have been cheated out of their childhood to regain a sense of self, a joy of life and the feeling that even for them, there are no limits. To this end, Hole in the Wall Camps provide a safe, supportive, and happy environment. Activities are structured to allow campers to experience success no matter what their disease or disability. All of this occurs under high-quality, unobtrusive, 24-hour medical supervision.
